What is the process Wilson-West follows to sell a company?

Use this link to see a graphic of the procedure. In its simplest form, it is a) 'package' the company (write a book about it), b) promote the sale to appropriate audiences and c) manage the resultant interest through Non-Disclosure Agreements, visits, Letters of Intent and due diligence to closing.

What is the fee Wilson-West charges for managing the sale of a business?

Wilson-West does not charge any retainer or other form of 'front' fees. Wilson-West works on a contingent, success fee basis, i.e., W-W gets paid when (and only when) the client receives proceeds from the sale. The fee is determined and agreed upon at the onset of the engagement, is variable and negotiable and is based, roughly, on the degree-of-difficulty the project is anticipated to entail. Typical fee may be 8% of the total compensation achieved through the sale.

How are sellers found?

Most seller/clients are referred to Wilson-West by their legal, accounting or financial advisors or by satisfied previous clients.

How are buyers found?

Various businesses have a likelihood of appealing to different types of buyers depending upon size, industry, service offerings, etc. One or a combination of the three buyer types may find a business of interest; financial buyers, strategic buyers or personal buyers. Wilson-West draws upon long and varied experience to ascertain the most likely buyer candidates and how to communicate with them.

What if I am not sure I am ready to sell?

Wilson-West is ready and willing to counsel with business owners on a no-charge basis to review the various aspects of the selling transaction. W-W respects that selling a privately-owned business deserves serious discussion and careful consideration of the financial and lifestyle ramifications.

What other services does Wilson-West offer?
